Hello all! Still having problems with my “E” key but I will muster through. Yes, a blog before noon (Oops…okay I got side tracked! A blog before 1pm). I am getting use to the whole 10 p.m. start time. But there is so much to research! Anyway, on with the show.
Summary
I thought it was a GREAT episode last night. However, in some ways it’s like they are revealing too much! TPTB (inside lingo: The Powers That Be) have always maintained that most of the things happening on the island are rooted in reality. It really is starting to look like it. I love the way they are developing Sawyer. Still a smart aleck but his softer side is starting to emerge. He gave Jack a nod, handshake and a man hug. Offered Claire some aspirin without any compensation. The embrace with Kate brought many women to grab their dvr remote controls and rewind over and over. Okay…maybe it was just me.
Connections
The numbers were everywhere as usual. On the license plate, injection bottle, the sub and the medical chart. Downtown, we now know, is Juliette’s song and often played to make her feel comforted and remind her of home. Song played again last night. Herarat Aviation is an anagram for Amelia “Earhart”. She mysteriously disappeared over the Pacific Ocean. Reference again to the book Carrie. I read about this one, there were 324 passengers on the plane, 3 sections (Losties, Tailies, the Dead), 3 divided by 324 is 108. The tree had the same mark as Juliette on her back. I have no clue what that could mean. Perhaps making her part of a specific tribe? But why would it be on the tree in which Ethan used as his old medical drop off point? Some type of marker. I would be interested to see who else has this mark.
Questions
Let me start by dispelling some of the things that we thought. Richard Alpert can go back and forth off the island, at least up until the purple flash. The Losties crashing on the island was random. The Others learned about them after the crash, thanks to Mikhail. They must have covered up the screens because they were not on when Locke, Sayid and Kate were there. I think the illusion of the Others was in full force once the Losties started to cross the line that Tom drew. So things were hidden. Ben and Juliette were not lovers, it was her and Goodwin. And finally that Juliette was not left behind but a plant (which I thought last week, thank you very much).
Was the whole kill Ben thing a hoax? As evidenced by Claire, they don’t mind the long con. Or did Ben just turn around the opportunity of the Juliette double cross to his advantage. I think the latter and he is now using her since she was going to get off the island.
I believe Juliette is working everyone. She was the last Other brought to the island. She has only been there 80 days technically after learning her sister was okay and that she can’t leave. So she wants to go and does not share their love for the island or desire to cure the birth issues. So I believe she will do whatever she can to get off the island. Right now, that means spying on the Losties. But spying on who? Claire and Aaron? Soon to be Sun once they learn she is pregnant, if they already don’t know. I wonder what they think they need to learn since they seem to know everything. All they want to do is leave. And now that they have Jack, they have no real reason to go after them. The surgery is over. So what new threat are the Losties?
Juliette’s flashback was true but her explanation of Ethan was a lie. They were not helping Claire since Alex was the one to release her from Ethan and Alex has always worked to protect the Losties. So what where they doing to her besides giving her an implant? We know that a woman can give birth on the island since Rousseau was 7 months pregnant with Alex. Ben said he had been on the island all his life, not exactly the same as being born there. But perhaps his mother arrived already pregnant like Claire, Rousseau and Sun. So we thought they were using the Losties in the experiment and they are. Evidenced by Ben, “We’ll find more mothers.” I think Jack was a lucky addition since he was a surgeon. Does Sawyer now have an implant too which they will use against them at a later time? !
As far as what Juliette knew about Sayid and Sawyer, by then, that information was given to her by Mikhail. The police would have known about Sawyer by then and Basura is the 2nd largest city in Iraq. Only logical that Sayid probably tortured someone there. Also, it could have been his last stop and the one that caused him to want to run away from his past. Juliette, like a psychic, take pieces and allowed their guilt to fill in the rest.
The biggest A-HA for me was the mention of Jacob. The island cures cancer. Ben said, “Have you seen even a trace of cancer?” specifically. Why not some other disease? It makes sense since Juliette’s research is based on working with a cancer patient. When Ben said that he will cure her sister’s cancer, Juliette insinuates that it can only be done on the island. So there are properties on the island that cure cancer. Hence her being angry with Ben after discovering the tumor. But then Jacob’s name is brought up and he will take care of it. So who or what is he?!? Is he a person or an entity? Can he get off and on the island? I think Ben lied. A liar, as I said before, tells 90% truth and 10% lie. So I believe the sister was okay and the video was of her and her son. But she did not have a relapse. Screenshots of the chart show that it was of an adult male. So he manipulated her to stay on the island. He eventually just told her no at the end. But the main point is that Juliette thought he or Jacob could do it. So that hints about how powerful he/it is. But why couldn’t Jacob cure Ben? So many questions!!!
Summary
5 more episodes?!? Say it isn’t so! I am already starting to feel the loss. I definitely want to have a season finale gathering in my new digs. So put it on your calendars now!!! The interesting questions are what is up with Locke, where the heck is Rousseau, and will Sayid come through and catch Juliette. It would be a huge disappointment if he doesn’t. They all have roles to play and him being as dimwitted as Jack shouldn’t be one of them. Jack may have some tricks up his sleeve. We shall see. Until next week, c-ya!

about the curing cancer...what does that say/suggest about Locke being cured?
I believe the island can cure cancer as well as allowed Locke to walk. The only other explanation is that he is walking due to a jolt during the crash...which is too unlikely. So the healing powers is not limited to cancer. I think it will wind up being not how he was cured but why him? And why not Ben?
Another thing, none of the Others seem afraid of death. They seem ready and willing to die. There is not much mourning except by Danny of Colleen. They can experience death on the island, right???
